Workout methods for fat loss exercise begin with finding what works for you. Exercise programs are not all the same, some may work some may not work for you. To have greater fat loss, resistance training and training with intervals have shown to have great results.

We need to have a schedule of exercise that will give us the results that we want. Sometimes we train and still don't have effective results. We need to look at what method works and it's not necessarily what you do, but rather how you do it, in order to get the results that you want.

Resistance training increases our metabolism by increasing our lean body mass. When we train with weights, the body increases its metabolic activity and continues to burn fat even when you are not exercising.

Exercises like leg extensions, bicep curls, and hamstring curls are single joint exercises and are not very effective at burning fat. In order to burn fat effectively, focusing on multi-joint exercises will be better.

Using low repetitions in weight training helps increase the body's fat burning capability. Exercises that utilize multi-joint movements such as squats, split-squats, chin-ups, push ups, rows, step-ups, dead lifts and lunges work many muscles and end up burning more calories and increasing the body's post exercise metabolism.

Training with intervals and high intensity training is better than steady, slow aerobic exercise. The quick anaerobic bursts of interval training, is the most effective way to keep the body burning fat throughout the day.

Interval training forces the body to adapt to the lowered oxygen levels of the muscles. When the exercise intensity decreases, the body quickly delivers oxygen to the muscles to remove waste, replenish and repair the cells. The Magic Weight Lifting Reps Number For Muscle Building and Fat Loss

I hear a lot of people explaining the different weight lifting reps and how 1 weight lifting rep scheme is better for 1 goal while another is better for yet another goal.

For example, lower weight lifting reps is better for strength while higher reps are better for endurance, and in the middle is the best for muscle hypertrophy (muscle building). But is there a "magic" number that's good for people who want to build muscle and lose weight at the same time?

I know this is a big problem people have. They want to lose weight but they're afraid they're going to lose muscle if they do that. Or they want to gain muscle but they're afraid they're going to put on too much fat in the meantime.

Well today, I'm going to give you that magic number of weight lifting reps which will help you both gain muscle and lose fat the same time. Anyway, the magic number is 8!

Studies have shown that when you perform 8 reps of an exercise, it gives you the ideal combination between muscle fibers firing (which will later cause more muscle growth) and the number of fat molecules that get burned up.

Now I don't think you should make every single exercise and every single workout consists around the number 8, but if you're goal is to put on muscle as you lose fat, you might want to stay somewhere near that range. It's not going to make a huge different if you perform a different number of weight lifting reps, but everything counts right?

Just understand that nutrition makes up about 800% of your weight loss results so if you're not eating right and don't know when and what to eat, you're going to have a hard time losing weight. It doesn't matter how many reps your doing or with what exercise, you need to have a great nutrition plan in place first.

According to those who study such things, weight loss can help overweight women reduce incidences of urinary incontinence. This can be of great value when it comes to the quality of life of many women afflicted with the problem. It is also an important finding for the medical community and health care industry when one considers that it results in approximately $20 billion in annual health care costs.

These are the findings of a recent clinical trial by a University of University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) researcher, Delia West, and others. The study indicates that weight loss, in addition to its many other known health benefits, can help women reduce the incidence of urinary incontinence as well.

The results of the study, which were published in the January 29 issue of the New England Journal of Medicine, was funded by the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) and the Office of Research on Women's Health (ORWH).

The program, which mainly focused on diet and exercise, was conducted in Birmingham, Ala. and Providence, R.I. It's results could be of value to the over 13 million women in the U. S. whose lives are affected by urinary incontinence. In addition to embarrassment, personal problems, constant fear of an occurrence, and a loss of self esteem associated with this condition, failure to manage weight can also lead to deadlier conditions such as Type II Diabetes, and heart conditions.

The group of women who were tested, consisted of 383 obese and overweight women who were already experiencing at least 10 episodes of urinary incontinence a week. For the study, they were divided into two groups. Group one was given information and instruction on the subjects of diet and exercise, while the others physically participated in an intense six-week program of exercise, diet, and behavior modification.

The second group, who were actually involved in the six-week weight loss program, lost, on average, 17 pounds each, and reduced episodes of urinary incontinence by nearly one-half. On the other hand, the women who received instruction and information but who did not participate in the weight loss program itself, lost about 3 pounds each, and decreased their episodes of urinary incontinence by slightly less than one-third.

It is also of interest to note that, even after six months, the women who actively participated the weight loss program were more satisfied and enjoyed more lasting reduction in occurrences of urinary incontinence than those in the information-only group.

Urinary incontinence among women, particularly among obese and overweight women, is more common than suspected by the general population. However, because of its nature, most women are not willing to discuss it with anyone and, unlike other conditions, such as breast cancer or diabetes, there is very little information being disseminated about it.

The results of this study, i.e. that weight loss can help reduce incidences of urinary incontinence is important and heartening to the women personally affected by the problem.

Look, I know that you are smart. I know that you know that if you want to lose weight then you need to work on your diet and exercise routine. I'm not going to write an article explaining how to lose weight and end it so that the only thing that you have discovered is that you wasted your time to find out something that you already knew. Instead, I'm going to tell you how you can effectively lose weight through making efficient use of your time in the gym. Interested?

Many people should realize how important it is to leverage our bodies to achieve our weight loss goals. If you know how to exercise correctly, then you can spend as little as 15 minutes in a workout a day to turbo charge your metabolism from that point until the next day. Imagine how many additional calories you would burn in a day if you were to burn an extra calorie a minute. Doesn't that sound like a lot more fun than only burning additional calories for the duration of your workout? Good, I have your attention.

So, what exactly do you need to do to have these results? It's called High Intensity Interval Training. Basically what you will do is perform a physical activity, such as sprinting in this example, and do it at 90-95% of your max heart rate. In fact, a study at Laval University showed that this training method made their trainees lose 9x more fat than those who did traditional cardio (20-60 minutes of moderate cardio). You can even combine this method with weight training to super-turbo charge your metabolism!

Remember, when you are going to exercise to lose weight, perform HIIT (high intensity interval training). You will burn more total calories and even boost your growth hormone levels (ever wonder why sprinters are so buff compared to marathon runners? They both run.). Most importantly, your metabolism will be elevated throughout the rest of the day.

4 Steps to the Best Exercise to Lose Weight

The two main types of exercise are either aerobic or anaerobic. While aerobic exercise burns calories while you are actually doing the exercise, anaerobic exercise, or strength training burns calories for up to 24 hours after you have done your workout.

Most modern experts will tell you that by regularly working weights, you will burn more calories even at rest, because of the calories that developed muscle uses just to sustain itself.

The best exercise to lose weight will be a combination of aerobic and anaerobic exercise. And you don't even have to split them up on different days. Combining the two, in short but intense sessions, will give you the best results.

Here is the way to go. Follow a session like this 3 or 4 times a week, and see where it takes you:

  • Start with a short 5 minute body weight warm up session. Choose your 3 favorite body weight exercises, that also targets the whole body, if completed as a set. These could be squats, push-ups and planks.
  • Follow up with your strength training routine. This would once again be a set of 5 or 6 exercises that target the whole body as combination. You can use the same exercises as used in your warm up, plus an additional 3 or 4. These could be variations of squats, abdominal curl-ups or crunches. Do 8-15 repetitions of each exercise. Rest for 30 seconds between exercises, and then repeat the whole set two more times. This should not take you more than 20-25 minutes. As mentioned, you could start off by using simple body weight exercises, and then add dumbbells and a bench, an exercise ball and a pull-up bar later, as you progress and get stronger.
  • Do your aerobic exercise. The most effective way of doing aerobic exercise is in the from of intervals, where you choose one type of aerobic exercise, such as walking, running or cycling, and vary the intensity of the exercise as you go along. For example, you may start off with 5 minutes of warming up, doing your chosen form of aerobic exercise, and then continue with 15 minutes of varying the intensity every two minutes or so, between hard and easy.
  • End your workout session with stretching all your tight muscle groups. This completes the session, for a total of 50-60 minutes.

Done 3 times a week, that takes 3 hours out of the 168 hours that there are in a week. To make the sessions shorter, you could of course do the aerobic and anaerobic exercises on alternate days.

It is important that if you are a beginner, to start slow, and work your sessions up to being more intense as you progress, and to warm up before your workout, and to cool down after. And, it is also important to combine strength training with aerobic exercise, as this is surely the best exercise to lose weight.

Simply outstanding. My home town is Singapore in the tropics and I realize that our tropical climate makes our water requirements even higher than usual.

Every other beverage is inferior so you really don't need anything else. Even low levels of dehydration (1% of bodyweight lost in sweat) cause big drops in performance and health. Having water on hand makes you less likely to drink other nonsense drinks.

Water improves flexibility and muscle tissue quality. It also lubricates joints and is good for your skin health and appearance. Water aids digestion and is essential for cellular level chemical processes. Drinking regularly will help prevent overeating cold water even burns a couple more calories each day (which does add up in the long run).

Performance wise, proper water intake will reduce cramping. In my experience, I have found that the key component for preventing my athletes from cramping during competition is not fancy sports supplements or magic foods.

The key is hydration. Colored urine is a no-no for any of my guys. Once they learn how effective this simple strategy is I don't need to nag anymore. Bring water with you everywhere and drink constantly. More pee breaks are a decent tradeoff for the huge amount of benefits that water gives you. Bring a bottle around with you everywhere. Uh...the bottle is for water so that you are reminded to drink enough, the toilet situation you will need to figure out yourself. Water definitely makes the best healthy foods (well ok, it's a drink) list.

Best healthy foods: Animals

I know, most people call it meat. But I want to be clear that you must really see that the meat is from a natural source not a processed one, and for that it's helpful to think of meat as animals. If you are seeing a piece of chicken, you can imagine that it was once a living, breathing animal. This is harder to do when you see a chicken cracker or chicken sausage which are vastly inferior to the actually piece of chicken.

Get lean cuts of meat. Animal fat is saturated and gets you those dreaded heart complications if you eat too much of it. Lean cuts of any meat are really great sources of protein. Chicken, beef, pork, lamb, deer, ostrich. Yup all good. If possible go for the grass fed or "free range" meats because they have a better omega-3 to omega-6 ratio. But if that's too expensive on inaccessible then its not the end of the world. Get the regular meat and make up the ratio via healthy omega-3 fats like fish oils and flax seeds.

Best healthy foods: Eggs

Top notch source of protein. Minimal saturated fat (only 1.5g per egg compare this with 10-15g per hamburger patty). I can't believe there are even doctors and nutritionists that tell us 2 eggs per week are all out bodies can handle. Parents say "no eggs kids, they are dangerous" but let's go to a fast food restaurant and eat jumbo sized triple patty burgers...hard to figure out, but happens all the time. Did you know that the saturated fat in one hamburger patty is equal to that in 8-10 eggs?

Different nuts have different ratios of fat types, so eat a variety of types. Macadamias, almonds, cashews, peanuts, pistachios - all good.

Natural peanut butter is included in this category. Get those from supermarkets where they grind the nuts for you on the spot. The slight increase in cost is probably worth it over the overly sugared, artificial fat laden regular peanut butter.

Also a great source of healthy fat. Olive oil raises good cholesterol, contains vitamin E, which acts as an antioxidant, reduces risk of colon cancer, lowers the risk of gallstones and is a good salad dressing. What's not to like.

Carbohydrates have gotten a bad rap since the days of the super low-carb Atkins diet which is still recommended by some personal trainers in Singapore and elsewhere. I believe Atkins is a better idea than a high refined carbohydrate diet but it is not a total health system.

Far more important than total carbohydrate intake however, is the type of carbohydrates that you eat.

Fruits and vegetables should be your main carbohydrate sources. Eat all kinds and all colors. Fruits and vegetables have huge amounts of micronutrients and anti-oxidants. Green vegetables also tend to have cancer preventing properties and the ability to help those who have high blood pressure. Fruits and vegetables also are high in fiber and taste really good as well.

Beans are great sources of fiber (benefits of fiber listed above). They also have protein but its vegetable protein which is inferior to animal protein. The list of good beans is long. Peas, lentils, chickpeas, kidney beans, navy beans (there are many more types as well) are all good.

Awesome antioxidants, manages to lower total cholesterol, improves good to bad cholesterol ratio, tastes decent, and has 0 calories. This, along with water (as mentioned above) should be your main drinks.
