A friend of mine goes through these phases to get quick weight loss and each time he does it he is very successful in losing the weight that he wants to. He goes to some of the most extreme lengths to lose this weight mostly because he is on a time limit and he has to get very, very quick weight loss.

About every three months he has some major kickboxing tournaments in which he needs to drop the weight so that he can go down a weight division. I'm not going to get into the methods that he uses because in my opinion these methods of getting quick weight loss are not very healthy, especially when it is being done over a long period of time.

Hoodia comes in three forms. You can take a pill, use a powder, or drink a liquid. The three different ways all help you to lose weight. Of the three, the liquid works the fastest. With the fresh memory of Ephedra, people may be a bit cautious to use hoodia, but the pure hoodia does work. Studies will determine if there are any negative feedback on using hoodia. Not enough people have been using it to determine any long term effects. The only people that have are the San Bushmen of South Africa. Although they have been using it for decades, their culture and lifestyles are vastly different than ours, and though no adverse effects have been revealed in studying them, the difference in culture and lifestyles may make it necessary to look into long term use by people in a fast paced, stressed out society.

No study has been done if hoodia is mixed with anything. Alcohol may alter it, drugs may render it useless. No one knows at this time. Only one thing is definite. Hoodia Gordonii in it's pure state will help you to lose weight. Use it correctly, and the pounds will fall off.

I know that even saying "Crash Diet" is like cursing nowadays, but bear with me. If you want to lose weight fast - and not just the "2 pounds per week" garbage the so-called gurus promote - then you've just struck gold. This is no 'fad' diet. Its smart, and based on science.

I know, I know. I've heard it all before too:

* "Crash diets are just plain stupid"

* "The weight loss is not permanent"

* "You'll gain it all back and MORE"

* "You'll ruin your metabolism"

* "Calories don't matter"

* "You must lose weight SLOWLY.

Well, they're right. But only because they're too busy rehearsing their pseudo-scientific mumbo-jumbo that they haven't even tried to think of ways to prevent those things from happening. The main reason that crash diets fail is because they naturally cause the metabolism to crash - EVENTUALLY.

Well, I have a way to prevent that. SEVERAL ways, actually. Think of it as crash dieting without the crash.

The main trick is to pause just BEFORE your metabolism crashes, then boost your metabolism, and then go back to your low calorie diet. Its a very good way to keep losing weight, while keeping your metabolism firing.

I can't go into too much detail here, but I'll give you the main points that you can use immediately while on your 'crash diet':

1. Eat enough protein on your low calorie days. Actually, get most of your calories from protein, and eat low carb on these days. You'll protect your muscle tissue better that way. Muscle burns energy, and therefore fat, remember? And get a calorie counter to make sure that you ARE really eating low-calorie! However, 800 for women and 1000 for men is low enough. Any lower is just silly.

2. Never go low calorie for more than 3 days in a row before taking a day off. Sure, you can go very low calorie on your crash diet days to lose weight extremely fast, but you MUST have an off day to restore your metabolism (and sanity?). On those OFF days, eat a LOT of lean protein - 6 meals a day! A large serving of good carbs at breakfast e.g. oatmeal will also make your body (and mind) forget that you are on a 'diet'. Don't worry, you cannot gain fat in just one day if you eat clean enough. But DO eat enough on these off days!

3. Do some strength training. This will REALLY save your metabolism by protecting muscle while fat cells get battered! You only need 20-30 minutes 3 times a week. And it doesn't have to be weight training - bodyweight exercises are fantastic.

You're thinking - "What? I'm trying to lose weight!" I know - and you will. Your metabolism burns calories on a per meal basis, not a daily calorie intake. Eating one more meal a day will start your body to burn more calories since, again, this is actually done on a per meal basis.

Naturally, there are some rules to this. Spread the meals out evenly throughout the day. Don't eat right before going to bed. Your last meal should be 2-3 hours before bedtime. OK so let's say we sleep eight hours a day (recommended). 24 hours in a day. Subtract 8 from 24 is 16 hours left. Subtract 3 more for the time between bedtime and the last meal and you now have 13 hours left in the day. Now divide 13 by 4 which is the number of meals you need to eat, and you get 3.25. Therefore you should eat a meal every 3 hours and 15 minutes after breakfast. Right?

The Financial Cost Of Being Overweight Or Obese

Let's just draw away for a moment about all the attention that the media has been reporting on for years and years, for example Hollywood diets, specialized weight loss programs, magical weight loss medicines, exercise regimes. The list can literally go on and on! Yet it isn't a big surprise as to why we've been hit with these headlines so often. Evidently a constant bombardment through the media services such as newspapers, television, magazines are produced in its masses and yet we don't realize we are constantly battling and sifting our way through this information overload age. Not only does it cost the producers millions if not billions of dollars a year, but look at the monetary value for those consumers? Who are we really to blame for this problem and why?

THE EXISTENT EVIDENCE

If you just look around you, evidently as you can probably see and I can guarantee you there is an overweight or obese person somewhere, right? Shopping mall, in your street, at work, they are everywhere and yes it is an 'epidemic problem.' What is baffling, in this day of age is we have so much information and resources surrounding us, but why is it we still have this overweight epidemic problem evidently we are getting bigger in size, eating far more than we should and still not paying close attention to health related risks of being overweight or obese.

If you remove all the scientific jargon, media hype about weight and obesity and just use 'commonsense and a bit of logic' it is evidently transparent that overweight and obesity is a psychological disorder. If you have read my article on 'The Law of Attraction and Its Benefits' you will understand that the social-environmental factors and the things that we attract in our life are reflect ant of what we are today. If we just concentrated on using more commonsense and rational thinking, then we would be more receptive and understanding better about the underlying factors and necessary questions we really should be asking 'The Why questions before using the How Answers'.

For example:

  • Why am I 10 pound over my normal weight?
  • Why am I eating so much?
  • Why is my food bill so much?
  • Why do I choose not to associate with healthy, motivational people regularly?

THE FINANCIAL BURDEN FOR AN OVERWEIGHT OR OBESE PERSON

Ok something interesting here that I must point out and one for all. Something that I have been paying close attention to is, if you just for example look at what overweight and obese people are putting in to their shopping trolleys, is it bulk, is it junk food, is the shopping trolley full, is it something a normal person would eat?

THE ARGUMENT OF BUYING BULK IS BETTER, IS RUBBISH!

If an overweight person would argue the fact that buying in bulk is saving money and being responsible on their finances because the general perception and the idea of buying in bulk is saving them dollars! Well wrong, if we look at the long term effects this has on the overweight and obesity epidemic.

THE FACTS

  • Buying in bulk is giving the offender an opportunity to eat more and temptation to the availability of food is the biggest sin for those overweight/obese individuals. Buying in bulk is encouraging the perpetrator to re-offend with those unsightly food eating habits. And this has a long term negative effect, because you will see a trend that the last visit to the shop is not enough and often you will see the trolley load eventually getting bigger and bigger.
  • Health and medical bills would be more than the average 'healthy normal person', for those who are overweight or obese would require regular doctor check-ups, diagnosis of health problems, surgery and of course your premium on your health insurance would also surge sky high.
  • There is no doubt that fast food although considered cheap and as alternative to cooking healthy food would be considerably high in price due to the eating habits, addictions to certain fast foods on a regular basis. So really is fast food really cheap? How many visits does it take to satisfy the overweight/obese individual? Again look around your area, how many fast food outlets are there? I would imagine plenty, right?

As you can see the financial cost of being overweight is indeed very costly, short term and long term. So one would not only have to think about their belt or dress size, but also assess their wallet size? Is it really hurting your wallet as well your health? That is up to the overweight perpetrators to answer that!

Lose Weight Successfully With Patience and Clear Goals

Most often, when someone decides to lose weight, they set a really big goal. Sometimes this goal is not realistic, or simply overwhelming. One may think, "I need to lose forty pounds". Well that's great, but nobody loses forty pounds overnight, despite the many magazine and television advertisements that seem to portray it this way.

Successful weight loss takes time. The more gradual the weight loss, the more likely the weight loss will be maintained over time. The longer the excess weight stays off, the more it benefits your health. As you complete specific goals that you set, you are gradually achieving the weight loss. If you shift how you view your weight reduction program as one that is a "journey" as opposed to a temporary burden, you will find long-term success.

The National Weight Control Registry (NWCR) is an observational study of individuals successful at long-term maintenance of weight loss. Individuals are eligible for participation in the registry if they have maintained a loss of at least 30 pounds for one year or longer. The Registry points to several common factors in successful weight loss: Ninety-eight percent of Registry participants report that they modified their food intake in some way to lose weight; Ninety-four percent increased their physical activity, with the most frequently reported form of activity being walking; While there is some variety in how NWCR members keep the weight off, most report continuing to maintain a low calorie, low fat diet and doing high levels of activity; Healthy habits include eating breakfast daily, self-weighing once per week, watching less than ten hours of television weekly, and exercising one hour daily on average.

Numerous studies have shown that these key components to a successful weight loss program: Calorie reduction, regular exercise, support, and self-monitoring. Some individuals are able to do this on their own, but most need some support. Self-monitoring is important, but it can be even more meaningful when a professional is also guiding you.

You also want to enjoy eating. One study showed that successful subjects who kept weight off for longer periods reported less effort and attention was required to diet and maintain the weight. Duration of weight loss was associated with greater pleasure of weight maintenance. Could this study suggest that participants actually "thought less" about their weight loss program? Perhaps they did not obsess about it, but instead just took small steps toward a long-term goal? Often individuals become fixated on the need to lose weight, and the feeling that they are being deprived of foods they enjoy can manifest into negative feelings that are then associated with the attempt to lose weight. Perhaps individuals who make smaller changes and do not focus on weight loss, but instead on specific goals (to eat more fruit or to walk sixty more minutes a week, for instance) achieve results and feel good about themselves.

So when it comes to weight loss, you are in charge. If you choose to lose weight, you can lose weight, when you are ready to do so. Realize that this is going to take some time, but it will be worth it. Find a registered dietitian or nutrition coach to help you set and achieve your weight loss goals, and you will be one step closer to a healthier you.

You need to limit the information you take in for fitness, fat loss and health;

Transforming our bodies and therefore our lives through exercise is simple.

Simply focus on the 5 areas below;

1.) Lift weights twice per week for 60 minutes working half your body-parts;

Work-out #1-- Chest, hamstrings (back of leg), biceps, rear shoulder (use lateral or pull shoulder exercises)

Work-out #2-- Back, quadriceps (front of leg), triceps, front of shoulder (use press shoulder exercises). Follow the order of body-parts as I have them listed.

>Perform 2 sets to complete failure in the 10-14 rep range, 3 exercise's per body part

>1 minute rest between sets

> Perform exercises in a circuit style; never two sets in a row of the same body-part;

For example on Work-out Day #1 perform your first set of your first chest exercise, then within 1 minute perform your first set of your first hamstring exercise, then perform your first set of your first biceps exercise, then perform your first set of your first rear shoulder exercise.

Then within one minute start over with the same sequence on your second set of your first chest exercise and so forth. Once you complete your second set for each of the first exercises then start on exercise #2, then exercise #3, then

you are done. Do the same for Work-out Day #2. That is 24 sets per session.

You have to really be ready with your plan written down in order to be done in 60 minutes, but you can do it. More time spent on each work-out and more sets does not equate into a better, more productive work-out.

>Perform each repetition with a 3 second negative, a one second pause, & a three second positive. GO SLOW!

2.) Cardio three times per week, first thing in the morning, intense interval style on days that you don't train with weights.

>6-9 1-2 minute challenges, progressively making each one more intense

>Rest periods between each challenge gets longer as challenges gets more intense

>Make sure to warm up for 10 min. with a power-walk

>Stretch out hamstrings, quads, glute's (bun's) & inner thigh twice, once after

challenge #1 and #5

>Perform 2 sets of 2 different abdominal exercises before cardio session

3.) Nutrition (precise personalized athletic nutrition program)

>5-6 small meals with protein and carbs combined together (low fat)

>More calories (in the form of starchy carbs) on days you lift weights

>Starchy carbs are brown / wild rice, oatmeal, whole wheat pasta, sweet potatoes

>No starchy carbs on days that you do interval cardio or are sedentary (no exercise). Use veggies, green beans, salads, apples instead

>Eat as much unprocessed foods as possible; If it came from a plant; EAT IT, if it was manufactured in a plant, STAY AWAY FROM IT!

>Drink lots of water, & stay away from calories in liquid form. The more you lower your stress levels, stay away from highly processed foods that are high in sodium, & drink as much water as possible, the more your body will let go off water retention. It is such a great feeling to feel looseness in you shoes, and your skinny jeans :)

4.) Goals (draw up a commitment sheet) and read it out loud every day

> Example: I, John Doe, am very x-cited about my new "FATLOSS LIFESTYLE" 12 Week Body Transformation Program. On _________ (Some date 6 weeks into the future)

I will;

Goals:

1. Lose 15 lbs. of fat,
2. Gain 6 lbs. of muscle,
3. Lose 3 inches off my waist,
4. Gain 1/2 inch on my arms

so that I:

Emotional Elements


1. Will look good in my Sunday suit


2. Get off of blood pressure medication


3. Feel attractive to the opposite sex


4. Be more confident at work so I can get a promotion


5. Will look sexy in my thong underwear


6. Can have the ability to age gracefully and be independent


7. Can be the best mom, daughter, spouse that I possibly can be (These are just examples, you must think on this one)

It does not matter what your emotional elements are. But they must stir emotion in you. Make sure that you list the 3 most emotional reasons that you want to reach your goals. It is not enough to have a date, nor is it enough to have a goal. You must know why you want it.

Once you have your commitment sheet that is personalized for you, read it out loud (twice) with a positive tone in your voice first thing in the morning and right before bed.

The "Law of Attraction" is real. Let's harness its power. As you are reading your commitment sheet out loud I want you to see yourself 12 weeks into the future. You have reached your goals and you physique is lean and ripped.

In fact, when you are in the best shape of your adult life all the areas of your life explode in quality.

I want you to see this in your minds eye. Act like a kid and pretend as you visualize. Now, feel the sweet emotion of how it will feel when you accomplish what you have given up on. So, it is very important to visualize yourself as if you have already accomplished your goals on you commitment sheet.

But it is even more important to feel the sweet jubilation of emotion at your accomplishments.

Do this every day / twice a day as you read your commitment sheet out loud you will be well on your way to a total life of fulfillment. Please believe in the Law of Attraction. Because it is real & it works!!

Trust me, I know it is hard to believe. In fact, I would not have believed it if I did not see it working in my clients lives. TRUST ME, IT WORKS!

Do not overlook how powerful this can be. I have found that this is the most important step of transforming your body and life through exercise.

5.) Social Support: YOU WILL TURN INTO WHO YOU HANG AROUND!

>Announce your attentions by unveiling your commitment sheet to your family, friends, & coworkers

>Do not spend time with anyone who does not totally support you and your goals

>Spend more time around those who have done what you want to do

>After you reach your goals then you can be strong enough to be around those who do not support you healthy lifestyle (but only for small increments of time).

Actually, you will be able to inspire others to live a healthier lifestyle

6.) Habitually Thinking More Positive

>We are bombarded with negativity every day from every angle

>Go on a low information diet, no news, no papers, no t.v., no gossip at work or with neighbors. Do it for just your 12 week transformation and you will be hooked

Weight charts are not accurate.

The weight charts are reliable. If your BMI is 25 or greater, you need to eat less and lose weight.

I have big bones. / I am "big-boned" / I am muscular. / It's all muscle.

There is a chance that your skeleton weighs more than the average person's. You may even have more muscle than the average person. That's why there is a normal range to the BMI (18.5-24.9). People with little bones or little muscles are closer to the 18.5 end of the normal spectrum. Those of you with big bones or big muscles are closer to the 24.9 end of the normal spectrum, but your BMI should still be less than 25.

Weight charts are racially biased.

Some ethnic groups are naturally heavier than others and that is why there is a normal BMI range (18.5 - 24.9). It doesn't matter what your nationality, race or ethnicity is; your BMI should be less than 25.

I am a bodybuilder.

Okay, you may have a point. The BMI charts are not always useful for men who are bodybuilders, professional athletes or who do resistance training regularly. Their large muscles may send their weights above a BMI of 25 without being unhealthy. A male bodybuilder should have his body-fat checked regularly to ensure that it is below 20%. Women lack the testosterone to build extremely large muscles, so this is an excuse they can't use.

I would not look as good if I were thinner.

I am sure that at a BMI of 24 you would look hideous. People would probably throw things at you in public. Seriously, you will still look good thinner. But, this is not about looks. Losing weight is about living a long disease-free life, not about how you fill out your favorite pair of jeans. You may think you look better overweight, but how good will you look after a heart attack.

It is really easy to sit down and make excuses for why you have not lost the weight you want to lose. It would be harder but more productive to stop making excuses and start strategizing solutions to help you drop the pounds and keep them off.

I do think that losing weight isn't as much about staying slim or medium-built, as it is about staying fit. If we look around us, we may discover that there are folks who are slim and sexy, yet are plagued by high-blood pressure or hypertension as their main health problem.

And when we look at hypertension a little bit more closely, we find that diet and lack of exercise, are not the only or real reasons that encourage the disease. They may be factors, yes, but not big deal reasons. By the same token, having a fit and sexy body through proper understanding and lifestyle may discourage disease and prolong youthful looks. You'll need to consider one thing before all this can happen and that is "do you really want to loose weight"?

To get to a point in life where you have had it with being "fat" and you want to fix this, you'll need to change what got you there in the first place. Most of us say "when I was in high school, I didn't weight this much and I ate almost anything". We'll here's the wake up call for you, you're not back in the good old days and your body has changed. Your metabolism has slowed, your life style has slowed and your body has changed over time. No longer can you get into the diet that you had as a teenager. Something must give or you'll just get larger as you get older.

Now eat better foods. You can't drop pounds when you eat pizzas, Big Macs, or what other fast food you get. You need grains, vegetables and cereals in your diet. Steaks and burgers are fine in moderation, but pork and fish can help you too. Snacks are another thing your need to concentrate on. You're not 16 any more and Twinkies is not the answer to curbing the appetite. Try celery, carrots, apples and oranges.

Exercise to burn the additional weight. You don't have to do marathon running, just get your body moving and set up a routine. You need to burn the weight you put on by jump starting your body's furnace. A minimum of 20 minutes a day can give you great strides and give you results.

Set goals that are reachable. One week goals of what it is you're going to eat and how much exercise you can do is a lot easier than trying to set the same thing for the entire summer goal. Once you reach one goal, set another.

Plan your meals ahead of time. Most of us find that we don't pay attention to this and we struggle on what we want to eat at a given meal. Many of us turn to fast food as a way to fix this. Plan and set aside easy instructions or maybe even get you food prepared ahead of time.
